halp ("halp," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by JIHL Digital LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use halpyou.com and app.halpyou.com (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.

If you don't agree with anything in this policy, please don't use the Service.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information — your name, email address, password (stored in hashed form), and optionally a company name, when you sign up.
  • Single sign-on data — if you sign up via Google, LinkedIn, or Facebook, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from that provider. We don't get your password.
  • Chat content — the messages, screenshots, files, and other attachments you send through halp.
  • Billing details — your name, email, billing address, and the last four digits of your card. Full card numbers are stored only by our payments processor (Stripe), not by us.
  • Support communications — anything you send to halp@halpyou.com or via in-app chat.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage — pages visited, features used, timestamps, and similar product-analytics data.
  • Device and connection — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, and approximate location derived from IP.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 5.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate the Service — route your messages to a marketing expert, sync conversations across devices, and let you access past chats;
  • Process payments and issue receipts;
  • Send transactional email (signup confirmation, password reset, billing notifications, expert replies);
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries;
  • Improve and debug the Service;
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

3. How we share your information

We share information only in the following situations:

  • Service providers we engage to help operate the Service — for example, providers for hosting, authentication, payments, customer support tooling, email delivery, and similar operational functions. These providers are contractually required to handle your data securely and only on our instructions.
  • Legal authorities when required by law, court order, subpoena, or to protect rights and safety.
  • In a business transfer — if halp is acquired or merged into another company, your data may transfer; we'll let you know in advance and you'll have the option to delete your account.
  • Aggregated or anonymized data that can't reasonably identify you — for product analysis or sharing publicly (e.g. "halp users sent X messages last month").

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal information we have about you;
  • Correct inaccurate information through your account settings or by emailing us;
  • Delete your account and associated personal data;
  • Export your chat history and account data in a portable format;
  • Object to certain processing or withdraw consent;
  • Lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.

To exercise these rights, email halp@halpyou.com. We'll respond within 30 days.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies, all strictly necessary for the Service:

  • Authentication cookies that keep you signed in;
  • Security cookies that prevent CSRF attacks;
  • Preference cookies that remember your UI choices.

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or third-party marketing tags. If we add basic product analytics in the future, we'll update this policy and provide an opt-out where required.

6. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you're a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect, disclose, and (if applicable) sell or share — see Sections 1–3 above;
  • Right to delete personal information;
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" — we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising;
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information;
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise these rights, email halp@halpyou.com with the subject "California Privacy Request." We will not require you to create an account.

7. European, UK, and Swiss residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your processing has the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you've signed up for;
  • Legitimate interests — to improve the Service, prevent fraud, and run the business (we balance these against your rights);
  • Consent — for any future marketing communications you opt into;
  • Legal obligation — to comply with laws.

You have the rights listed in Section 4, plus the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

8. International data transfers

halp is operated from the United States, and our service providers store data primarily in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have data-protection laws different from your home country. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer. For transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

9. Children's privacy

halp is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us personal information, contact halp@halpyou.com and we'll delete it.

10. Security

We protect your information with industry-standard measures: TLS/HTTPS in transit, encryption at rest, role-based access controls, regular security review of our infrastructure providers, and the principle of least privilege for staff access. No system is perfectly secure — but we work hard to prevent and quickly respond to incidents.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app at least 7 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
